The footbridge from Holešovice to Karlín.

Since 1980, I have continuously owned a device that can satisfy my eternal thirst for music wherever I am. So, for the past 43 years of my life, I have been able to indulge in music while walking, and of course, listening also enhances the environment in which this walk takes place. When you walk along the sidewalk next to the road, the enjoyment is occasionally disrupted by passing cars. The ideal situation occurs when you realize that your journey to work can be combined so that, for example, you can take the metro to Křižíkova station and then walk one and a half kilometers to work in the city center practically without the disruptive sound of cars. In that case, it is possible to set classical music as the musical accompaniment, which tunes the individual even better than other music genres. I am writing all this as a celebration of an architectural masterpiece that was given to the people of Prague on July 28th. For pedestrians, runners, cyclists, but mainly without cars, this footbridge serves as a link between two Prague districts, Karlín and Holešovice. The only slightly disturbing circumstance is the human-powered transport of human hustle and bustle, namely riders on electric scooters. This means of transportation is currently spreading like an epidemic, and I hope it doesn’t cause many accidents here. Otherwise, the fact that I am enjoying this connection between the two banks of the Vltava River is clearly demonstrated not only by me but also by the faces of passing Prague residents. It’s as if the more optimistic part of the population is concentrated here, for whom this physical activity also does good. And, among other things, they happily add extra steps on their digital meters. Although I have been using even more intense physical activity combined with music, namely running, for over ten years, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to people who are overweight. For starters, when a person wants to embark on a healthier life journey, it is certainly advantageous to use a similar area for at least part of the journey to and from work to lose weight so that they can also join the current trend, namely running.
